Lost Horizon (1973 Film) (Burt Bacharach & Hal David)

Here is the musical soundtrack to the, well, Bacharach and David film musical. As a kid, we didn't have many albums around the house and believe it or not, I didn't collect albums, listen to the radio much, and we didn't even have a stereo in the house (it was in a (quasi-) room off the garage), but we had the soundtrack to this movie for some reason (along with The Road to Hong Kong and The Sting......all great albums, by the way, but don't ask me why we just had those ones). And as a kid, I enjoyed this movie even though I knew it wasn't very good. They were all trying very hard to put a New Age / post-hippie spin to a classic novel (though James Hilton & Ronald Colman were probably both spinning in their graves).

And it always reminds me of the quote by, I think Bette Midler, possibly at the premiere of the movie when she said, 'I never miss a Liv Ullman musical'. Well, Liv was dubbed by Diana Lee in the movie, but you get the idea.

P.S. I just realized another blog had posted this, so I wasn't going to post it, but I guess the link had been killed so I thought I'd go ahead anyway.

Hi Anonymous!

You're very welcome! It's a shame I didn't get to download the other blogger's post before it went down (I wish I could remember who it's on a blog I like very much, but my memory is failing me). And thank you for saying what you did about the superior sound!

Hi Honored General!

You are very welcome and if you cook any of the recipes, let me know if you start looking any younger! :))
Thank you for the link!

I love the soundtrack so much...since the time my parents bought a copy in 1979 and first played it.

Then I first loved the movie when I was just a little girl who was able to watch it on TV in the 1980s.

Sometime in 2000, I paid a record engineer to transfer the songs from our vinyl record to CD, but I've lost the CD last year.

I sure am glad I came across your blog! I downloaded the files some 10 minutes ago and started enjoying the songs once again! Thank you oh so much! :)
Thanks so much for this.

My mother is freaking out about being able to have this on her iPod! Thanks for sharing it!
Just put up a clip of Peter Finch doing his own singing in "I Come To You" - tale a look:
