By Request - Taras Bulba (1962) (Franz Waxman)

'Isbum' made another great request. I already posted it in the comments section of the Request post, but I thought I'd turn it into a regular post. It's to the Yul Brynner / Tony Curtis cossack movie. This is one of my favorite Franz Waxman scores. If you want action and lyricism, this is the score for you. It's fantastic! In fact, it was nominated for an Academy Award and was beaten out by Maurice Jarre's score to Lawrence of Arabia. If you have to lose, that's a good one to lose to, but that should give you an idea of how good this score is. Enjoy!

Nice score! This is one of those "B list" items I have never managed to get round to recording off my LP. It'll be nice to hear it again.

This was one of Franz Waxman's last scores. Hew went overseas to those countries, in order to obtain some authentic tunes. Franz was the man in his day. Thank You! :-)!

Hi. I've just discovered this blog and want to have Taras Bulba's OST. I'm from Salta, Argentina. This is one of the places where this film was made. My grandma told me that she met Tony Curtis and Yul Brynner during some takes.

I wonder if there is any possibility of doing a re-up.
