Karl Zéro - If You Love Lounge or Latin Dance Music, You'll Love This
I knew nothing about Karl Zéro before I heard his music in an episode of the X-Files. I loved the music, but I didn't think about it until some time later when I was looking around for music and realized I could look for his music. So I eventually cobbled together tracks from different sources (with different bitrates) and ended up reproducing his album which I offer here. That was a long time ago, but it occured to me that somebody else might enjoy it. It is one of the best modern albums of this type that I've ever heard and I always love listening to it. It will make you smile (or dance, I'm not sure which).
At the time, I don't remember discovering too much background information about Karl Zéro (since it was mostly in French and other languages). If I remember right, I think he was a TV personality who did this slightly tongue-in-cheek lounge album (which in many cases seems to reproduce classic orchestrations, such as the one for 'Perfidia').
I'm sure everybody else knows about him but me (that's usually the case), but I don't remember seeing this album on any other blogs which is really surprising (if someone has, my apologies). Hopefully, someone will put up the actual album somewhere, but until then enjoy these tracks! And if you can find the CD (although it would probably be an expensive import), run out and buy it; you won't be sorry! (in fact, now that I think about it, I should do it when I get the chance!!)
Note: a few of the tracks aren't entirely family friendly with the occasional curse word thrown in, but if you're reading this, you're probably adult enough to handle it!

I'm not able to pay anything online, but you might be interested to have it for $1.26 (quality 192kbps). Btw, your blog is fantastic and i could not believe how much effort you put to make it. I really appreciate it. Thank you.

Hi anonymous!
Thanks so much for the link! I was all set to buy it (even filled out their registration form) and then realized that they don't take PayPal. They only take credit or debit cards (for which they charge a one-time $10 fee) or special money service vouchers.
It seems like a great deal if you don't mind giving them credit card information or if you plan on purchasing enough to make the $10 worthwhile, but I was a bit reluctant to do it, so it kills me, but I passed on it. I was tempted to use their voucher system which allows you to purchase pre-paid cards with cash to buy things, but I prefer to pay with PayPal to keep things simple for me, so I reluctantly decided against it.
I really appreciate you letting me know though. I may do it in the future if they ever allow PayPal transactions. Some of those overseas (in this case, Russian) companies offer fantastic deals and this one was such a great deal that I was very tempted to go ahead and do it, but I had to pass.
And thanks so much for the kind words about the blog! Not many people specifically comment about the effort, so I really appreciate you saying that!!
Thanks again for letting me (and others) know about this though. They also have soundtrack & other material if anybody's interested, but since I haven't used them, I can't vouch for them.

This is a great album, I've had it for years (hunted down after the X-Files episode it was featured in). Nice to see someone else rec it.
Just purchased a couple weeks ago from Amazon at the link below. Doing some research and came across your blog. It is an awesome album. It takes great skill to record songs like this that are so true to the sound of the swingin 60's. KZ nails it and it is just fabulous. My band (www.cafeaccordion.com) is going to cover the version of El Bodeguero done here with the master, Henri Salvador. You can just hear the fun these two had while singing this song. Too bad Henri passed away last year - he was a class act (for more of Henri, check out his album "Chambre Avec Vue").
